For Immediate Release EWU Women's Studies speakers series gets rolling CHENEY, Wash. - The Eastern Washington University Women’s Studies Center gets another year of their noon program series guest presentations rolling with three interesting topics next week. On Tuesday, Oct. 4, EWU Professor Margaret Heady will discuss recent female authors who have played an important role in the emergence of a new kind of Caribbean novel, where the obsession with authenticity is renounced and the “antiphony” of the Caribbean voice is celebrated. Her presentation is at noon in room 207, Monroe Hall. The following day, Wednesday, Oct. 5, Nan Aki Linder focuses on “busting myths of diversity,” as she discusses discrimination, prejudice, stereotypes and bias. The audience will participate in break-out sessions after Linder speaks. Linder’s presentation begins at 1 p.m. at the Pence Union Building multipurpose room. EWU economics professor Doug Orr closes the week’s presentations on Thursday, Oct. 6, with a discussion on why current Social Security reform proposals will more adversely impact women than men. Orr speaks at noon in room 207, Monroe Hall. The EWU Women’s Studies Center sponsors and hosts discussions about women’s issues throughout the school year. More events are on the horizon, so stay tuned. These presentations are free and open to the public. #### Press Release Date: September 28 Contact Name: David Rey Contact Phone: (509) 359-6335 Contact the Webmaster Copyright © 2005, Eastern Washington University
