Nani's Event Schedule and Latest News
Nani Aki Linder, a results-oriented, "quitting is not an option," faith-grounded woman, slays dragons of fear by facing them head on. She is the author of Trial by Fire: A True Story of Hope; University of Life: A Cross-Cultural Approach to Leadership Success; All about Me “Look at Me I am A Star”, and Multi-Accompanying Education Guides. These educational guides are subject specific and target needs in areas such as; “kids at Risk”, “Attitude First Aid”, “Diversity is about Attitude & Perception”, “Cultural Immersion Recommendations for Teachers who work on Reservations”, “Special needs exercise for teachers, caregivers, administrators, guidance counselors and parents”, “Seeing through the eyes of special needs clients”, “customer/client care”, “spirit of hope and natural healing”, “Tips for living with hope”, “Children’s diversity and leadership workbook”, and numerous others.
Nani founded a multicultural leadership system in 1998
based on Hawaiian/Chinese values derived from wisdom she
learned from her Na Kupunas (grandparents-literal meaning
fountain of knowledge). An expert in cross-cultural issues
and an experienced public speaker, Nani offers trainings,
keynote speeches, consulting, and radio/TV interviews.
She has worked as an international ground hostess,( serving
military families en-route to overseas bases and served
as Senior hostess when VIP dignitaries such as Madam Shang
Kai-Shek, General Westmorland, Admiral Sharp, and for other
VIP military and civilianpersons.), special
needs educator, Hula Kumu (Hawaiian dance teacher), appointed
city health and social services administrator, city councilor,
Johnson O'Malley and Indian education representative, elected
school board secretary and president, and chairperson of
various Christian women's committees. Nani has trained
teachers, School Title coordinators, Head Start personnel,
special needs supervisors, tribal leaders, business leaders,
social workers, and participants at Indian education conferences.
Nani is a passionate child advocate. She tells us,
I am not for you if you do not want to hear
the truth. I don't want to see another dime spent
on studies and studies of studies. We are roll-up-your-sleeves,
let’s-get-to-work-and-solve-the-problem people.
Integrity matters! Native Americans in particular have
waited 199 years too long to see their children placed
on the priority list.
Without the children, we have no jobs. It is as simple
and as complicated as that! Schools are built and staffed
with administrators, principals, teachers, cooks, counselors,
security people, bus drivers—the list is endless—all
for the sole purpose of teaching children. Teachers have
tremendous power. Our intent is to assist educators on
every level and help their students become! Why?
Because the kids matter. Our salaries should be compensation
for our honorable service.
Ask yourself this question: Would I want my child to
be taught/treated in the same way I teach my students?
Think before you answer, and tell the truth.
Dismal statistics confirm the struggle of Native American
students on reservations. Nani believes cultural self-awareness
is the missing link. If we don't understand or respect
the culture of our students, they are likely to fail, even
if they’re working hard. Our perceptions and attitudes
may be the problem.
But “the blame game” is fruitless. What we
must do is fix the problem now! Nani chooses to
live and share a passionate results-oriented life with
others. She walks the talk. Nani is particularly dedicated
to uplifting children at risk and Native Americans.
Nani was adopted by Maggie John in 1978, respected Tlingit
Medicine woman and given the name of White Raven. This
is a sacred name and with it comes many responsibilities
which Nani works towards daily in uplifting the lives of
all Indian Children, indeed all Indian people. Nani’s
Hawaiian name translated in Assiniboine language is Sweet
Grass. Formally she is Nanipuaalaomaililaulii Aki Linder
Hawaiian Kanaka maoli Wa Apana (canoe paddler) and White
Raven adopted daughter of Maggie John respected Tlingit
Indian Medicine woman in 1978.
She is married to Ron Linder, and they have a daughter
Kim, two grandsons, Ryan and Jordan, a 16-year-old cat
named Kelli, and Maile, their puppy. Nani is proud to be
a Kanaka Maoli Hawaiian.
